Bid Specifications General - The following specifications describe maintenance equipment to be used by the Transportation Operations Division, of the San Bernardino County, Department of Public Works. The machine will be a new and currently advertised model built by a well-established manufacturer of this type of machinery. This Specification is based on one manufacturers design. The intent of the Department is not to limit or eliminate proposals, but to start with a buildable set of specifications. In the event of major failure during the warranty period, the vendor will furnish or reimburse the County for the transportation of the machinery to the vendor?s place of business for repairs. Safety - The successful vendor must certify that they will meet all existing regulations contained in the State of California Construction Safety Orders and/or O.S.H.A. at time of acceptance, for this type of machinery, all California and Federal Vehicle Code or any other applicable laws or regulations for on- or off-road, and day or night operation. Warranty - Manufacturers standard warranty shall accompany the vehicle, together with all the information required by the manufacturer on the warranty form. If equipment does not meet minimum specified, vendor will be required to make necessary correction at their expense. List the locations of available replacement parts and normal time required for delivery of such parts. Vendor shall guarantee replacement parts and make sure that they are available within 48 hours or less. If parts are not available in this time period, vendor shall reimburse the County for the cost of renting a machine until the part arrives. Delivery - Prior to delivery, new vehicle must be completely serviced in accordance with the standard new vehicle ?made ready? and the manufacturer?s recommendations. Vendor - Vendor to supply all necessary instructions and engineering information for installation of hopper/spreader, and hydraulic system specifications. The vendor will also furnish three copies (for each unit) of the following manuals Training School: The successful bidder shall, at time of equipment delivery, provide a minimum of four hours training school for mechanic, service, and operator personnel at no cost to the County. Time and place shall be designated by the County prior of delivery of unit. Vendor shall supply a VHS tape on proper safe operations and maintenance of unit. Vendor shall state in writing at time of bid the training class agenda.

Item # 2:

I. Hopper Body: Stainless Steel 9ft., 5 cubic yard capacity hopper to be full electric welded construction of at least 10-gauge steel, sloping sides at 45 degrees. The unit will be so arranged for slide mounting in a dump truck and be equipped with hinged heavy-duty top screens. The hopper shall also be furnished with the necessary equipment for loading, unloading on and off dump truck without slings, cables, cranes, etc., able to unload and load utilizing built in stands. Front conveyor bearing shall be lubricated via grease tubes run to the rear of unit wiring pig tail sufficient in length to reach the rear cross member of truck. Two (2) sander lights mounted on upper right and left corners at rear of hopper body. LED running light bar mounted at rear with amber lens. II. Conveyor: Material will be conveyed from the hopper through a worm gear driven conveyor drive into a directional cute to the distributor disc by a hydraulically driven 24? wide belt mounted on the 36,000 lb. test chain system. The belt will be so designed as to provide a continuous non-pulsating material flow to the distributor disc. The conveyor shall operate on a replaceable abrasion resistant wear plate and be protected by steel aprons. The conveyor shall be equipped with an adjustable spring-loaded idler assembly. The conveyor assembly will have stainless steal housings and bearings throughout. Answer yes or no or comment in question section of this bid.

III. Distributor Disc: Material spreader disc shall be of plastic construction, 20? in diameter, with six (6) replaceable abrasion resistant vanes. Disc shall be hydraulically driven and will be vertically adjustable, approximately 20 inches. Four (4) deflectors shall be provided to regulate the pattern of material spread from 8 to 40 feet. The distributor disc and chute assembly shall be designed to swing up and lock to directly unload unused material for stockpiling or for flat on the ground storage. Hydraulic lines complete with no drip quick couplers and dust caps sufficient in length to reach the rear cross member of the truck shall be provided. STAY BACK 50? warning sign on rear of unit. IV. Hydraulic System: Cab mounted hydraulic valving shall be provided to manually regulate independently the conveyor and spinner motor speeds. Controls to be numerically calibrated and detent positioned. Pressure compensation and flow division, as well as overload protection and unloading shall be provided in the hydraulic circuit. Synchronized ON/OFF valving to be manually controlled. Deflector shield covering conveyor motor, sprockets and chains.
